:. Spire Fanner CPU Cooler 9T236B1M3 EasyStream
Date: Manufacturer: Type: Pages:
Sep 4th, 2002 Fanner Tech - SpireCooling  1 | 2

:. Introduction .:

The Fanner Group - Spire new cooler, EasyStream (9T236B1M3), is one quiet fan. This partly because the Fanner Group has lots of experience with system cooling. Started in 1991, the company has since developed into a world class contender in the cooling market.

The fan itself is very well designed, being slotted on the outside to help with air flow. It's made from a solid piece of aluminum and the sinks are thin and spread out, to maximize the fan's cooling capabilities.

As soon as I took this fan out of the package I knew that we had a winner. The cooler was built very solid. I prefer this type of mounting cooler much better than others on the market. The clamps make it so easy to install: Just place it on the CPU and drop down the clamp. With others, tools are needed and the old locking mechanisms are horrendous to work with. For example, my friend just recently broke his motherboard because he was installing a CPU cooler carelessly. The screwdriver slipped and when it was all done, he lost $150.00 :(

As well, for the performance this CPU cooler can achieve, it is one of the quietest we have seen. Some like to have a CPU cooler that isn't for overclocking, but rather, just something to get the job done well and quietly. I personally don't mind 50+ dBA fans but when I get others coming over and commenting that my computer sounds like a 747 Jet Engine, I can understand how some may feel about that noise.

One thing that I wouldn't use is the stock white grease. I would instead wipe it off and put a known white grease like Arctic Silver or Cooling Flow. This won't make too much difference but it can bring the temperature down as much as one degree sometimes.
