:. Samsung SyncMaster 191T LCD .:

Samsung has been driving force in the LCD market for the last couple years and spent a lot of time and money producing high quality displays that, not only provide the buyer a quality screen presentation, but also deliver a monitor that looks very stylish, futuristic, and also power friendly since it only uses 40W.

When I received the Samsung SyncMaster 191T, the first thing that struck me was that the bezel imeasured only 18.6mm wide. The 18.6mm bezel is one of the best features this monitor has in regards to looks. The 191T is quite unique because of this new bezel and its actually pretty great that Samsung has designed this monitor to look futuristic. Since everyone that has a dual monitor setup understands how annoying a thick bezel can be sometimes, this monitor eliminates that. Because of this, I am noticing that a lot of people are choosing Samsung over other companies.

But don't forget all the other great features you get, including the great image quality. With the 191T you would be looking at 37.2mm in total bezel in between the two monitors compared to your usual half a foot. Not only is the 18.6mm bezel great for a dual monitor setup but it also gives this extra touch of detail.

It is clear right from the price that the 191T is targeted to the higher end markets. People that are looking for a friendly dual monitor for their office or any other setting such as graphic design would definitely have to check this monitor since it can handle these situations with ease.

When it was time to inspect the monitor and look for defects I found no noticeable defects and the the screen itself was in excellent quality: there is no warping, the outer edges were all perfect and also there were no dead pixels on the screen. When I purchased my last LCD, the 171S from the store and I had no problems with it as well.

The 191T comes with a DVI-D connection and the great thing about the Digital DVI connection is that its impossible for the display to be misconfigured. This means the Auto Adjust button on the monitor is not needed. Another great feature the 191T has is that the dual inputs allow the it to be connected to two computers at the same time where it can be switched easily between the two inputs just by a touch of a button. This is a great opportunity to just buy one monitor if you have two systems and put the money you would waste on two monitors together and use it for the 191T.

One feature Samsung decided not to include in the 191T is the built-in power-block, its not a big deal but it would be great to have the built in power-block like most Samsung LCD's.

I am personally a big gamer and enjoy a great variety of games. My latest selection of games I have been busy with are Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Grand Theft Auto 3, Medal of Honor, and the newly released Mafia (Amazing game). Playing all these games allows me to really test the capabilities of this monitor and if you ask me, I prefer an LCD over a CRT anyday. I was skeptical of the LCD technology at first; the ghosting and other inadequate features people complained about really turned me off. However, recently I chose to buy the Samsung 171S and it surpassed any expectation I had before. I use the monitor for everything and would choose it over a CRT any day. I will never go back to another CRT. Thanks to the 25ms Response Time there was no ghosting or any other noticeable problem with games. I am also happy to say all the games looked incredible and the colors where rich very rich, the dark colors did not fade all into one either.

I could also notice more detail in gaming using the 191T compared to my 171S. If you decide to go and buy a LCD and you are a gamer, the one thing you will have to look at first after you decide how large of a monitor you would like is the response time.

Response Time:
Samsung 191T - 25 msSony SDM-M81 - 30 msViewsonic VG181 - 50 ms

you will notice that the 191T has an amazing 25 ms compared to the 30 and 50 ms that the competition have. If you do decide to purchase an LCD please make sure you have a close look at the response time; the lower the number the better. Also, if you get close to high 30's ms then you will start running into some problems with games and DVD's, so be very careful on your future LCD purchases. Do some research before you buy a LCD!!!

The 191T has the pivot feature like almost every other Samsung LCD and its great if you do a lot of MS Word work, Photoshop, or even just surfing the internet. In the 171s LCD the pivot option was great but, maybe because it was only 17", it did not look that great. Now that I am using a 19" LCD, I see a big difference and I am starting to actually like using the pivot option. Thanks to Nvidia and their new Detonator 40.41 drivers, they have included the option to Pivot your monitor with out installing any other software.

One more think I would like to state is the fact that LCD's are so easy on your eyes that I can now stay on the computer and work all day with out my eyes starting to get sore and start hurting. I had this problem with my CRT and now playing games on the LCD is nice because I can play all night and my eyes don't hurt. I first noticed this when I got my 171s LCD and now after using the LCD for such a long time I have had no problems and my eyes don't get sore anymore.
